A two-piece winter set for small children: a hooded, quilted puffer jacket and a matching pair of padded bib overalls. They fasten separately, so the jacket doubles as an ordinary winter coat on days that do not need snow pants.

Two garments, not one suit

Each order is the jacket and the bib overalls, in a single color and a single size. That matters more than it sounds: a one-piece snowsuit gets worn on snow days only, while a jacket that stands on its own gets worn from the first cold morning to the last.

  • The jacket — quilted in broad horizontal channels, full-length front zipper, a flap chest pocket and two front buttons, with a fur-trimmed hood.
  • The bib overalls — padded to match, with elastic webbing shoulder straps on side-release buckles, a gathered elastic waist, and a zipper running the length of the bib.

Not included: no hat, no mittens, no gloves, no scarf and no boots. Two garments, and nothing else.

Choose the size by your child's height

This is the single thing worth getting right. The maker's own size chart is built on height in centimeters — the age labels sit beside it as a rough guide, not as the measurement. Children of the same age vary enormously, so measure the child, then read across.

Size
Child's height
Age guide
12–18M
29.5–33.5 in (75–85 cm)
1–1.5 years
18–24M
33.5–37.4 in (85–95 cm)
1.5–2 years
2–3T
37.4–41.3 in (95–105 cm)
2–3 years
4–5T
41.3–45.3 in (105–115 cm)
4–5 years

The four height bands run continuously from 29.5 in to 45.3 in with no gap between them, so every child in that range has a size — read the height column, not the age column. If your child lands on the line between two bands, take the larger one: this is outerwear that goes over other clothes, and a season of growth is worth more than a close fit.

Garment measurements, laid flat

These are the measurements of the clothes themselves, as published by the maker — not body measurements. The chest figure is taken around the jacket, which is cut with room for layers underneath.

Built for the part parents dread

Getting a small child into winter clothes is the whole battle. The bib is designed around it.

  • Buckle straps, not fixed ones. Each shoulder strap runs on elastic webbing and closes with a side-release buckle, so the straps let out as the child grows through the season.
  • A zipper that opens the whole bib. The front zipper runs down the length of the bib, which means you can get a squirming toddler in and out — and reach a diaper — without taking the whole thing off.
  • An elastic waist on the overalls, so the fit closes up without a stiff waistband.
  • No cords at the neck or hood. Nothing to catch on playground equipment.

The hood

The hood is trimmed with a thick, natural-toned fur edge that stands up around the face. The maker states that both the hood and its trim detach, so the same jacket can be worn plain.

What the maker states

These are the supplier's own claims about the set, in their words. We have not been able to verify them independently, so we pass them on as the maker's rather than restate them as our own:

  • “Its windproof and waterproof features also help improve protection in snowy or wet outdoor conditions.”
  • “Reflective strips on the front and back help improve visibility during darker rainy or snowy conditions.”
  • “A detachable hood and detachable faux fur trim.”

There is no published temperature rating and no published waterproof rating for this set, and we will not invent one.

On the fill and the trim. The maker's listing describes the insulation as a down fill and the hood trim as faux fur. We have not been able to obtain documentation for either from the supplier, and down content and fur content are both regulated claims in the United States. Rather than repeat figures we cannot stand behind, we describe the garment as what it plainly is: a quilted, padded winter set. If the exact fill content matters to your purchase — for an allergy, or on principle — contact us before ordering and we will get it in writing first.

Care

Wash cool and gently, and dry the garment fully before storing it. Padded winter clothing holds damp in the seams longer than it looks like it should.
